Scholarship Opportunities

Nazareth Regional High School is committed to recognizing and supporting outstanding students through our scholarship programs.

Who is Eligible?

Scholarships are available only to incoming freshmen and are awarded based on:

  • TACHS exam resultsand middle school academic performance.
  • Nazareth’s Private Scholarship Exam(for students who did not take the TACHS test).

 How to Apply

Students who did not take the TACHS exam can register for Nazareth’s Private Scholarship Exam, offered on April 8, 2025, by contacting:

Exam Fee: $35   Required Documents: Students must bring their 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade report cards for scholarship consideration.

Nazareth Catholic High School Scholarship Program (“NAZ CARES”)

The NAZ CARES Scholarship Program was created to help Catholic elementary school students who wish to attend a Catholic high school but need financial assistance. Each year, the Principal of a Catholic middle school may nominate one student for this scholarship.

Release Record Form

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I would like to call your attention to the following procedure. Any student requesting the release of his/her academic records, which is necessary in order to complete his/her application to any college, must return a signed release form to the Guidance Office.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions about this, or about anything to do with the college application process. I look forward to working with your child as he/she applies to college and welcome the opportunity to talk with you either on the phone or in person.

Dress Code

Khaki or black dress pants are to be worn at the waist with a properly fitted length, which can be purchased at any store; NO denim, NO stretch fabric, or NO cargo pants permitted. Girls are not permitted to wear leggings or jeggings. Plain black belts must be worn, no designer belts or buckles are permitted.

Nazareth white logo dress shirts are to be worn Monday through Thursday and must be tucked in and ironed. No plain white shirts can be worn. Boys must wear tasteful ties and ties are optional for girls.

Nazareth polo shirts can ONLY be worn on Fridays or at the discretion of Administration. The polo shirts are maroon, pink, or gray (long or short sleeve with the NRHS logo).

Students have the option of wearing the Nazareth V-neck sweater, cardigan or blazer. Students must wear a shirt or sweater with the Nazareth or NRHS logo at all times.

Black dress shoes must be worn. No metals/logos or different colored soles are permitted. Absolutely no boots, sandals, open toe, or high heels (over 1”) may be worn. Neither Uggs nor Crocs are permitted. No Coach, Prada, Balenciaga, branded shoes, etc. Sneakers can ONLY be worn for gym.

Uniform black pleated skirt is to be worn at the knee, but no more than 2” above the knee. Girls can wear their choice of socks, leggings, pantyhose or knee socks at the discretion of Administration.

Students’ hair must be neat, well-groomed, and maintained.

Dress Down/Dress Up

During the year, students are permitted to “dress down” and “dress up” for various occasions such as school trips and special events. The following policies pertain to acceptable attire that can be worn:

  1. Jeans and non-uniform pants must be worn properly on the waist. Shorts must be knee-length.
  2. Sweaters, sweatshirts, blouses and knit tops are permitted. No cut-off tops may be worn. No mid-riff skin may show, and tops cannot be low cut. There can be no distasteful expressions written on tops, as per the discretion of Administration.
  3. No hats or head coverings of any kind are permitted.
  4. No undergarments can be showing.
  5. Dress pants, skirts, dresses, blazers, dressy sweaters, shirts, or blouses may be worn as long as they are appropriate in length, and size.
  6. Students are not permitted to wear designer belts.

Other Dress Code Requirements

  1. Students are not permitted to wear unacceptable clothing at any time, including days when students are excused from wearing their uniforms.
  2. Headwear of any type may not be worn in school or around the school premises at any time or at any extra-curricular events. Hats can and will be confiscated. Headbands must be a solid black color and no more than 2” wide.
  3. Students are not permitted to wear jewelry or accessories that the school deems ostentatious and inappropriate. Such jewelry includes but is not limited to ornate neckwear, belt buckles, finger rings, gold teeth, and facial piercings.
  4. Jackets and coats must be placed in the student’s locker at the beginning of the day and may not be worn in the classroom or around the school.
  5. The school reserves the right to prohibit the wearing of any clothing that it considers objectionable, in poor taste, or offensive in any manner.
  6. Any student with a tattoo must keep it covered at all times in school and at all sporting and other school events.
  7. Hair should be clean, combed and neatly trimmed or arranged. Unkempt hair is not permitted, and designs on eyebrows are not permitted.
College Credit Options

Nazareth students have the opportunity to earn 50+ college credits through our partnerships with St. John’s University, St. Joseph’s College, and Long Island University. Successful students can transfer these credits to the college of their choice in most cases, thus starting ahead of other students when beginning their collegiate careers at campuses across the country.

Nazareth students can earn credits through enrollment in the following Nazareth classes:

  • College Composition 3 credits
  • AP English Literature 6 credits (in addition to credits earned on the exam)
  • Pre-Calculus 3 credits
  • Calculus I 4 credits
  • Calculus II 4 credits
  • Statistics I 3 credits
  • Statistics II 3 credits
  • Psychology 3 credits
  • Sociology 3 credits

Students can take classes on the campus of St. Joseph’s College. Possible classes include:

  • Foundations of Computer Programming Using Animation: 3 credits
  • Human Communication: 3 credits
  • Introduction to Human Inheritance: 3 credits

Nazareth students also have the opportunity to participate in the Long Island University Early College Scholars Program, which enables them to earn up to 30 credits by taking college courses on the campus of LIU Brooklyn. Courses are offered in Arts and Sciences, Education, Health Science and Technology.

Nazareth uses a numeric system of grading with a range of 50% to 100%. Passing grade for all subjects is 70% or higher. Advanced Placement courses are weighted: the course grade is multiplied by 1.06 to determine both grade point average and class rank.

An interview appointment must be made with the Director of Admissions; a parent/guardian must attend this meeting. Transfer students must present a school transcript, last report card, a letter of recommendation and a discipline report when attending this meeting.

Incoming 9th Graders

Before Applying

8th-grade students should take the TACHS Admissions Examination, indicating Nazareth Regional HS (Code 006) as their first, second, or third choice. For class scheduling purposes, applicants must also provide their 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade report cards and standardized test scores for review.

Nazareth RHS offers a TACHS preparatory course for this exam over a five-week Saturday morning schedule, preceding the examination in November, at a nominal fee.

Friday, October 9, 2020 – Deadline for submitting request and supporting documentation to Diocese for extended testing time accomodation.

Friday, October 23, 2020 – Deadline for internet and telephone registration. No late registration or walk-in process this year.

Sunday, November 1, 2020 through Thursday, November 5, 2020 – Students will be provided with their session codes/dates/times. Call 1-866-618-2247 if you are not able to obtain your test session code.

Saturday, November 7, 2020 – TACHS Test

Wednesday, January 13, 2021 – High School Acceptances will be mailed out
