Congratulations to Mr. John Amelio, who has been appointed the next Principal of Nazareth Regional High School, effective July 1, 2020. A life-long New York City resident, Mr. Amelio has spent the majority of his career as an educator serving a multitude of roles at private, independent, and parochial schools throughout the city.
Mr. Amelio will take on the honored responsibility of overseeing the next chapter in Nazareth’s remarkable history. As Nazareth’s Principal, Mr. Amelio will continue the mission to educate the whole child by developing college preparatory program initiatives, strengthening the athletic and extra-curricular programs, fostering the Xaverian Brother’s Catholic values, providing a supportive and collaborative atmosphere for faculty and staff, engaging families and the broader community, as well as promoting a safe learning environment that is conducive to the growing achievement of all learners.
Mr. Amelio received his B.A. in Management, from Baruch College and is scheduled to complete his graduate studies, with a Masters in Educational Leadership, from American College of Education, this spring. He will obtain his School Building Leader (SBL) license at the conclusion of the program.
Mr. Amelio is an avid film-aficionado, creative writer, and sports enthusiast. He comes from an extensive Italian-American family and takes pride in his relationships with his 12 siblings (and 21 nieces and nephews).
