This Scholarship Fund is in memory of Lieutenant Michael T. Russo, FDNY, Class of 1975. Michael tragically lost his life in the line of duty, while responding to the attacks at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He was 44 years of age at the time and was survived by his wife, Theresa, and their son, Michael, Jr.

The Lt. Michael T. Russo FDNY Scholarship Fund has been established to honor his memory and in remembrance of the courage of all of those who gave their lives to save others, several of whom were also graduates of Nazareth Regional High School.

This scholarship is intended to remember and recognize Lt. Russo’s bravery and commitment to service, and to ensure these fine qualities are perpetuated in future Nazareth students by the institution that he so loved. As a student and pole vaulter on the Track Team, the qualities and skills learned and refined while at Nazareth High School were truly instrumental in making Michael the person he would later become.

This scholarship will provide financial assistance to a deserving student or students in line with the Xavierian Brothers Mission of educating the children of immigrants and the less fortunate. Financial need and GPA will be considered in the initial award and continuation of the scholarship. The further expectation is that the student will also honor the memory and values of Michael and his family which include sacrifice, dedication, and service to others.

All money raised for the Lt. Michael T. Russo FDNY Scholarship Fund will be committed to the Fund and its stated purpose.

We welcome and are extremely grateful for any donations in his honor and can be made directly through this website. All donations are tax deductible.
